Lift, or equalization cables, are responsible for making sure the swing arms are level, and the vehicle is lifted evenly when raising or lowering the lift. With usage over time, lift cables stretch, fray, have broken threads, and corrode, causing uneven lifting of the vehicle. When this happens, cables must be adjusted, so locks are clicking at the same time or simply replaced.
