Arlington, Texas — Town Fair Tire of East Haven, Connecticut has agreed to carry Allpart Supply’s Medium Duty kits in each of its stores throughout New England. The tire service and replacement giant is rolling out the kits regionally, completing 70% of its introduction by the end of 3Q 2018 in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Western Massachusetts. The tire distribution retailer will continue to roll out the kits in the balance of its stores, which are located in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Eastern Massachusetts, through the end of 1Q 2019.

Town Fair Tire (Town Fair) and Allpart Supply have had a close working relationship for many years, thanks in part to their mutual relationship with Mohawk Rubber.  The respect and understanding between all parties have benefitted everyone involved, as they have engendered customer-focused changes as the market has evolved.

Initially, Town Fair chose to use Allpart’s Haweka passenger car adapters on every balancer in all Town Fair Tire stores. Brian Nemick, Town Fair Regional Manager, explains, “We made the decision to use Haweka passenger car adapters because we knew it was the right way to balance and to get correct results, and we have not been disappointed. We really like the fact that since we started using the adapters, comebacks have become a thing of the past. No one likes doing the job twice, and since we moved to Haweka adapters, our service techs do the job once, and that’s all they need to do—it’s done right.”

More recently, market changes have created the need for Medium Duty balancing assistance. Town Fair Service Manager Andy Demar, of Williston, VT, related that “you would not believe how many Medium Duty trucks I see. It’s all we work on these days out here. Allpart’s MD kit has been a godsend. I only wish we had more of them.”

Town Fair Tire realized that the market demands a premium solution for balancing Medium Duty wheels, so in growing their program they naturally turned to Allpart, whose Haweka brand of German-engineered balancing equipment is tailor-made for Medium Duty and many other applications. Town Fair was interested in Allpart Supply’s Haweka-brand Medium Duty adapters and kits for two reasons. First, they knew that Haweka engineers a premium quality product that withstands the tests of time, repeated use, and customer satisfaction. Haweka’s Medium Duty adapters are made specifically for this rugged portion of the wheel market, for workhorse work trucks that typically do not receive timely servicing and need substantial attention when they do. Town Fair Tire was also interested in expanding into Allpart’s Haweka line of Medium Duty balancing equipment because of Allpart Supply’s commitment to educating its customers. Jon Barganier, VP of Allpart Supply, personally ensured that Town Fair Service Managers and Tire Techs were completely educated not just on the need for Haweka Medium Duty kits but on the reason that balancers need appropriate adapters to begin with.  “I didn’t realize how much of a difference having the right adapters makes. Seriously, after Jon showed us the Haweka ones, and I saw how they fit and how easy they are to use, I was sold. They saved so much time,” Service Manager Kurt Walker of Warwick, RI remarked after trying the Medium Duty adapters for a month. “My customers love how smooth the ride is now. And before we used these adapters their rides were never smooth!”

As part of Allpart’s standard customer training regimen Barganier conducted regional educational and demo sessions for Town Fair Tire service managers. During his training sessions Barganier first educated service managers on the connection between rim and tire to vehicle hub and lugs so that they were able to see why tire technicians must match the vehicle mount on the balancer. (Unlike Town Fair Tire, many tire shops don’t use adapters, or they use outdated cones that often cause more imbalance than good.)

After educating tire technicians and managers on the need for proper adapters, Barganier demonstrated the difference in the Haweka Medium Duty adapter kit by using the adapters on a Medium Duty truck, removing the wheels and balancing them in real time to show how fast and easy the Haweka MD adapters make the balancing process.

The initial response from Town Fair Tire service managers in the field has exceeded expectations. Scott McPhail, VP–Sales at Town Fair, elaborates, “The Medium Duty Kits have been very, very well accepted in the stores–even better than we expected, honestly. The best part is that we are seeing immediate results.  Actually, because of those results we are looking at adding more than one system in some areas. Our locations are balancing Medium Duty wheels better than they ever have.”

Haweka’s adapter lines and kits in both Passenger Car and Medium Duty are robust, but their success in stores is also due in part to the synchronicity between the contributing entities. Mohawk Rubber’s New England Key Account Representative Skip Glass concurs that this partnership between the three companies is a great one: “We knew as soon as we saw both the quality of the Haweka adapters and Allpart’s corresponding commitment to customer education that Allpart was a company in it for the long haul.
