A newcomer to automotive lifts would be surprised to discover that auto lift swing arms configurations differ between two post symmetrical and two post asymmetrical lifts. At Allpart, we not only know the difference, but we supply parts and kits particularly made for any variety of two post auto swing arms and restraint configuration.
At Allpart, we specialize in supplying all parts for all brands, and that includes auto lift swing arms and restraints. How can an operator tell when they need new parts for restraints? A few signs of wear and need for replacement are:
· Excessive play or movement in the auto lift swing arm
· Worn teeth on gears (either type of lift—older plunger style or half-moon style)
· Weak spring not supporting the plunger (older lifts)
· Ineffective locking mechanism (does not lock)
Preventative maintenance in these situations is key to prevent later problems with the lift. Allpart offers complete kits to ensure proper function for both older and new models of lifts. Whether the lift is a discontinued lift or one straight off the production floor, we have parts in any configuration to suit the task.
We carry kits for all models. Retro-fit kits are available for older lifts not originally fitted with restraints. We have gear kits available, which contain only the gears (half-moon and locking gears for newer models, and plunger and arm rod for older models), and we also keep inventory of full kits, which include rings and springs, as well.
Our auto swing arm and restraint parts for older lifts utilize “all thread” design sliders to ensure positive engagement. Because lifts vary in scope of reach and extension when the lock is engaged, our arm rods are threaded for the length of the arm. This extra feature gives the operator multiple points at which to engage the locking mechanism, and therefore more versatility in lift configuration when repairing the vehicle.
Our restraint gear for newer lifts consists of a beveled moon gear design for improved locking ability. The gear, when properly installed and in good working condition, allows the auto lift swing arms to move into the position the operator chooses and then positively engages and locks when the arm is in place. Mechanics deserve to feel secure as they work on a vehicle, and ensuring arms don’t shift as employees stand beneath them is a small repair to make for peace of mind.
Allpart knows parts. We know product availability is always an issue when time is short, so we keep a full inventory on replacement parts for auto lift swing arms and restraints as we do for all our parts so you get the job done fast, on your terms.
